The Long Walk Home

Two weeks ago we recommended director Richard Pearce's directorial debut film Heartland. Today our Rialto Recommends is his 1990 drama THE LONG WALK HOME starring Whoopi Goldberg and Sissy Spacek. Two women, black and white, in 1955 Montgomery Alabama, must decide what they are going to do in response to the famous bus boycott led by Martin Luther King. Roger Ebert said "THE LONG WALK HOME is a powerful and affecting film, so well played by Goldberg and Spacek that we understand not just the politics of the time but the emotions as well." While Newsweek declared "The understated passion of THE LONG WALK HOME sneaks up on your emotions." THE LONG WALK HOME is streaming on Crackle, PlutoTV and FilmRise. Unfortunately, all three services are presenting the film with ads. This is a film we've been thinking about recommending for months hoping that it would have better streaming distribution. It is well worth watching even with ads.
