We've mentioned before how we enjoy caper films. But sometimes the plot is secondary to the chance to watch great actors make the most of average material. WHERE THE MONEY IS is just such a film. Starring Paul Newman and Linda Fiorentino, WHERE THE MONEY IS is our next Rialto Recommends. Henry Manning (Paul Newman) has come up with a new way to break out of prison: fake a stroke and get transferred to a nursing home. It's a perfect plan, except for one thing: the woman assigned to take care of him at the nursing home, Carol Ann McKay, has a plan of her own. The St. Paul Pioneer Press said "Where the Money Is is a throwback to gleefully amoral comedies such as Fun With Dick and Jane, Going in Style and Newman's The Sting." While the Metro Times said "Few actors project intelligence and resolve like Newman, and he makes the seemingly impossible aspects of his character feel not just probable but easily within his reach." But Roger Ebert summed it up best in his three star review, "Where the Money Is has a preposterous plot, but it's not about a plot, it's about acting."
