Stream HERE!Our next Rialto Recommends belongs to a category of films that we like to call cinema therapy. Movies that you've seen in the past but that are like comfortable old friends who it is good to visit with again. Released in early 1986 MURPHY'S ROMANCE stars Sally Field as Emma and James Garner as Murphy. Garner received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor and the film also picked up a nomination for Best Cinematography. Emma is a divorced woman with a teen aged boy who moves into a small town and tries to make a go of a horse ranch. Murphy is the town druggist who steers business her way. Things are going along predictably until her ex husband shows up, needing a place to stay. The three of them form an intricate circle, Emma's son liking Murphy, but desperately wanting his father back. Roger Ebert said "Much depends on exactly what Emma and Murphy say to each other, and how they say it, and what they don't say. The movie gets it all right." MURPHY'S ROMANCE is available to rent for a modest fee from Amazon, Vudu, Redbox, GooglePlay, YouTube, and DirectTV HERE.
