Remember video stores in the 80's and renting VHS tapes? Seems such a long time ago. Ky was working in a video store in Cincinnati when LADY IN WHITE was released briefly in theatres and then on home video in 1988. This non-gory ghost story is our next Rialto Recommends. Locked in a school closet during Halloween 1962, young Frank witnesses the ghost of a young girl and the man who murdered her years ago. Shortly afterward he finds himself stalked by the killer and is soon drawn to an old house where a mysterious Lady In White lives. As he discovers the secret of the woman he soon finds that the killer may be someone close to him. As Roger Ebert said "LADY IN WHITE tells a classic ghost story in such an everyday way that the ghost is almost believable, and the story is actually scarier than it might have been with a more gruesome approach." While the Chicago Tribune said "LaLoggia clearly loves his chosen medium: He has a passion for filmmaking-for ferreting out unusual angles, for planning elaborate camera movements, for designing elaborate special effects-that sometimes leads him way over the top. Yet it's the extravagance of his gestures that gives Lady in White its character and imaginative force." LADY IN WHITE is available to rent for a modest fee from Vudu, Redbox, and AMCTheatresOnDemand HERE.
