17 Girls
Based on a (surprisingly) true story, 17 Girls follows a group of teenage schoolgirls who make a pact to get pregnant so they can form a utopian commune of young mothers. Louise Grinberg (The Class) stars as Camille, the gang's stubbornly assertive, pro-pregnancy ideologue, who succeeds in convincing her friends that the popularity brought on by being pregnant is far better than the popularity brought on by anything else. Challenging widely held cultural assumptions about parenthood, adulthood and reckless teen sex, this visually extravagant film offers an engaging perspective on the wonderful and horrible process of becoming an adult.
