The Great Gatsby continues this week. The Great Gatsby follows the Fitzgerald-like Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) in the spring of 1922, "the roaring 20s." Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles. Who better than stylist Baz Luhrmann to render such a story! Lou Leminick in the New York Post says, this is a "...must-see... surprisingly satisfying... stellar work by Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role and Tobey Maguire as his neighbor and only true friend..." read the complete review here.
Also continuing is Iron Man 3. In this action packed adventure about Tony Stark he's on a quest to find the enemies (Ben Kingsley at the top of the list) responsible for destroying his personal world. Joe Neumaier writing in the New York Daily News says, "sharply fuses the humor and heart of the earlier films with a satisfyingly heavy-metal strength -- and a darkness that's more than earned.... it's a blast." Enjoy the review here.
This House a new play from National Theatre, London. This House is enjoying a huge success in London and is a don't miss presentation for us this summer! This House strips politics down to the practical realities of those behind the scenes within the Mother of all Parliaments in 1974. Variety says, "Aided by helmer [director Jeremy] Herrin's pedal-to-the-floor pace, Graham kicks off with the kind of action-packed exposition for which The West Wing was celebrated." Tickets available" We have three presentations but the first is already sold out! Get your tickets for Monday, June 3 or Wednesday, June 12 - here.
